"76, that sounds quite good doesn't it?"
"No, Dawn. No it doesn't."
"Well how about 88? That's a nice number. You can't dislike 88. It looks like two snowmen going for a walk... Why are you looking at me like that?"
This is a flavour of the conversations that have peppered our kitchen over the last couple of months. My husband has humoured me as I've tried to sell him on the idea that almost any number is better than 101.
But, try as I might I cannot deny the fact I have signed up to write a book on "101 Ideas to get Children Outside". Of course it was fine at the start. I had a huge list of ideas to choose from. But as the weeks have passed, writing up and testing out all the projects has become tougher each day. However last Thursday, having planted up salad balls, created an underwater scope and built a solar powered oven from cardboard boxes, I was done.
Of course when I say "done" that's ignoring the weeks of photo shoots and re-edits, but hey, I'm very good at ignoring things. It's a skill I've worked on for years
Oh, and if you're wondering, the pictures are to illustrate idea number 93 - making flower fairies.
93. See there's a good number.
I love the flower fairies! Please let us all know when the book is available - I'd love to get my hands on a copy, sounds right up our street!

Hi Beck - thanks so much. The book will be out in the Spring (it's an excrutiatingly long process!) but I'm sure I will be wibbling on about it a few more times before then and posting up one or two of the ideas as I go along. D
