I know it's November, and some of you Christmas purists will think this is too early, but quite frankly I don't care. It's getting chilly outside, I've had enough of bulb planting and I'm very much in need of a good old-fashioned mid-winter festival. So here we go, my top 10 garden gifts for kids this Christmas*.
1. Garden Rocking Horse (see above) £78.95 - made from a recycled aircraft tyre and perfect for attaching to the bough of a tree
2. Frogitat House £12.99 - a ceramic frog and toad house which almost looks too good to be used
3. Wooden Nightingale Bird Call £6.45 - no not something to call wooden nightingales, but a bird call simulator made from wood
4. Set of Three Vegetable Patio Planters £14.95 - bright and colourful with photos of real veg to decorate the sides, these fold flat for storage and can be reused every year
5. Solar Insect Theatre £29.99 - automatically lights up at night to attract moths, lacewings, butterflies and other insects into the theatre for kids to see, study and release the next day
6. Pink Trug £12.00 - it's pink - what's not to love?
7. Wooden Three Tier Herb Pot Stand £38.00 - OK, so it's not aimed at kids, but it's the perfect height and a great way to show off what they've been growing
8. Bronze Snail Watering Can £19.99 - Pricey, but a lot more interesting than most children's watering cans
9. Wooden Garden Limbo Set £19.99 - because, who doesn't like to limbo?
10. Children's Metal Wheelbarrow £16.00 - it's always good to have a bit of child labour when shifting compost, so why not provide them with the tool for the job
*I would like to point out that I have received no bribery, free gifts, blogger discounts or any other benefits from websites or manufacturers featured above. Damn them! Seriously, I don't think anyone's tried to corrupt me since that strange Swedish bloke in my year out. I'm most disappointed.
Trying to come up with ideas for my 5 year old neice. Since my sis died a few weeks back no one has any idea what my neice would like!!

Helen - I can't begin to think how sad that's going to make this Christmas for you all. If it's any help, my daughter's favourite present for her sixth birthday was a pink digital camera from Vtech. Dx

Hello... (adopts twirling moustache and slightly greasy leer)...young lady.....
Can I interest you (raises left eyebrow and switches cigarette holder to other side of mouth)... in a trug (raises right eyebrow expectantly)...or maybe (adjusts tie).... a nice organic cucumber?
(OK, don't snigger so obviously. It's tricky corrupting people in Blog comments)

James - you have some sort of sixth sense. That's exactly the point at which I started to snigger. Think you should grow the moustache though I have a feeling it might suit you - in a David Niven kind of way.

It's far too early to be thinking about Christmas - Christmas shopping starts after my birthday. When is it? Oh, as you asked it's 28 November.

Mmm, love the horse although can see husband going into one of his attacks of "how much? give my an afternoon and I'll make you one".
I try to use 3 and a half year old step grandson as extra labour, not really successful but who cares?

Martyn - it's in the diary now. In fact I can't beleive it wasn't already pre-printed there - like the Queen's...
Elizabeth - That's what makes me happy I married someone incapable of making anything - or even thinking he might be capable. And yes 3 1/2 make incredibly charming garden helpers don't they?
